Tournament – Poker tournaments require a registration fee paid before they start. After players have paid that amount, they receive an equivalent in chips. Cash games – The cash game format allows players more flexibility. Each player can choose how many chips he wants to have. Players start playing with a different number of chips. Call / raise / fold / check – The call, raise, fold and check are the four possible actions that a player can take. The call means that the player chooses to just call the previous bet. The check is the famous “pass the turn” action, and can only be triggered when there are no previous bets in that round.
Big blind and small blind – The big blind and small blind are mandatory bets. Blinds serve to inflate the pot and motivate players to be more active. These bets also dictate the game play of poker. They directly influence poker game play.
Bluff – Bluffing means deceiving your opponents. The bluff can be done in two ways. The most common is to demonstrate that your hand is stronger than it really is. On the other hand, it is also worth doing the opposite and showing weakness when you have a good hand so that your opponent cannot understand your hand. You may have heard that situs poker is a bluffing game. For a bluff to occur successfully the player must find the right time to trigger it. After all, if you always bluff, you won’t be able to deceive others.
Heads-up – The word heads-up refers to the poker format where there are only two players facing each other: also called head to head. The heads-up takes place on two occasions. The first are exclusive tournaments and cash games for two players. The other occasion occurs at the end of regular tournaments, when only two players remain.
Burn card – Burn cards are cards discarded prior to the distribution of community cards. The discarded card is practically always the top card. This action occurs three times during each hand: pre-flop, after the flop and after the turn. This is done to ensure the ethical execution of the game: preventing a player / dealer from arranging the deck in order.
